Invitation - 2024 COECSA Ophthalmic Educators TTT
The COECSA Train the Trainers (TTT) sub-committee in partnership with the Ophthalmology Foundation hereby invites you to the 2024 COECSA Ophthalmic Educators Train the Trainers (TTT) Workshop. The goal of the workshop is Improve ophthalmic educators teaching and assessing abilities with resultant improvement in resident education in ECSA region.
The workshop will primarily focus on:
- The rationale for workplace-based assessments (WPBA)
- Implementation of WPBA relevant to the COECSA Curriculum
- Peyton’s 4 step approach to teaching clinical/procedural skills
It will also present an opportunity to learn more about COECSA education programs that include Accreditation, Examinations, Curricula Development and TTT.
The TTT will be held on the Subspecialty Day of the 11th COECSA Congress on Wednesday, 21stAugust, 2024 at Elephant Hotel, Victoria Falls Town, Zimbabwe. The facilitators for the workshop that will run from 09:00h to 16:00 are:

- Ciku Mathenge MD, MSc, PhD (Program Director, Professor, RIIO, Chair TTT Subcommittee COECSA)
- Meenakshi Swaminathan MD (Member, Education Subcommittee, Ophthalmology Foundation, Visiting Professor, SRIHER, Chennai, India)
- Tsedeke Asaminew Alemu M.D, MSc. Medical Education, FCOphth-ECS(Educational Advisor RIIO, Clinical Training Consultant, Chair for Education and Accreditation Committee COECSA)
PARTICIPANTS: TTT is a requirement for Faculty in COECSA Accredited Centres, thus all are invited to attend. Further, faculty in other Residency and Subspecialty Fellowship Programs in ECSA are encouraged to attend!
