Speaker Biography
Dr Nils-Erik Boonstra is a specialist in ophthalmology and Senior Consultant at Haukeland University Hospital in Norway since 2004. 23 years of experience with cataract surgery and currently head of the cataract department. He has been a vitreoretinal surgeon for the past 10 years and is responsible for paediatric cataract surgery during the same period using the “Bag in the Lens” (BIL) technique for this patient group. He is involved in the further development of this technique, e.g. in patients with ectopia lentis. Publications and presentations related to this. Special interest in complicated cases, injury, iris reconstructions, IOL exchange and scleral fixation of lenses.
